Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 2026

This page is general information, not a substitute for independent legal advice. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of fairgopdf.au (the "Site") and its tools (the "Services"), provided by Fair Go PDF. By visiting the Site or using any Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, the only available option is not to use the Site.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms apply to every visitor, regardless of how the Site is reached or which tool is used, whether or not an account exists, since the Site has none. Continued use of the Site after a change to these Terms (see "Changes to these Terms" below) means the updated version has been accepted.

THE USER HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO READ AND REVIEW THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND, BY UTILISING THE SITE AND/OR SERVICES, HEREBY AGREES TO THE TERMS SET OUT HEREIN FREELY, VOLUNTARILY, AND WITHOUT COERCION.

2. What the Site provides

Fair Go PDF provides free, browser-based tools for working with PDF and image files (compressing, converting, merging, editing, and similar operations). Every tool runs entirely as JavaScript inside your own browser tab. There is no server component, no account system, and no file upload, each tool processes files locally on your device and nothing about the file you're working with is ever transmitted anywhere. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail on what that means in practice.

3. No warranty

The Site and every tool on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including, to the extent permitted by law, any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Using free, browser-based software, no promise is made that:

  • Any tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser, device, or operating system;
  • Output files will be free from errors, corruption, or loss of data or formatting;
  • Any tool is fit for a specific professional, legal, medical, financial, or regulatory purpose, see "Not professional advice" below.

Because every tool runs inside your own browser using your own device's resources, the result can be affected by things entirely outside Fair Go PDF's knowledge or control, the browser in use, its version, installed extensions, available memory, the operating system, or the condition of the original file. Always keep a backup of your original file before processing it, this is the single most effective protection against any tool not producing the result expected.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fair Go PDF, its creator, and any contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss or damage, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or connected with access to or use of the Site, even where advised of the possibility of such loss. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited, to the extent the law allows, to resupplying the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified. Where a term of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remains in effect, see "Severability" below.

5. Your responsibilities

Use of the Site and its tools must comply with applicable law. This includes, where relevant, any obligation around the handling, storage, or disposal of documents processed through a tool, those obligations exist independently of this Site and aren't changed by using it. The guide to AU/NZ privacy law and document uploads covers this in more depth, though, per "Not professional advice" below, it's general information, not a substitute for advice specific to a given situation.

The Site and its tools may not be used to process content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or to probe, attack, or attempt to disrupt the Site or its infrastructure (for example, excessive automated requests, attempts to bypass the Content-Security-Policy, or any other form of misuse).

6. Not professional advice

Blog posts, FAQ answers, and other written content on the Site are general information only. Content covering accessibility, privacy law, or any other regulated area is not legal, compliance, or professional advice, and shouldn't be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional about a specific situation.

7. Third-party services and links

Some tools and pages rely on third-party services, Google Fonts, optional Google Analytics, Stripe for the Support page, and Web3Forms for the Contact form, each covered in more detail in the Privacy Policy. Pages on the Site also link to external sites (for example, the pdf-lib and pdf.js project pages). Those services and sites operate under their own terms, which this page doesn't cover, and which aren't within Fair Go PDF's control.

8. Intellectual property

The source code that runs the Site is open source under the MIT License, available on GitHub. That license covers the code itself. The Fair Go PDF name, logo, and the Site's own written content aren't covered by it and remain the property of the Site's owner. Files processed through a tool remain entirely the property of whoever owns them, nothing about using a tool transfers any right in that content to Fair Go PDF.

9. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, by using the Site you agree to indemnify Fair Go PDF, its creator, and any contributors against any claim, loss, or expense arising from a breach of these Terms or from unlawful use of the Site.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, Australia, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

11. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that part is read down to the minimum extent necessary, or severed if it can't be, and the rest of these Terms continues to apply in full.

12. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time, for example as new tools are added or the law changes. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change. Continued use of the Site after an update means the updated Terms have been accepted.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through the Contact page.
