How strong is the encryption in Protect PDF?

Protect PDF uses AES-256 encryption, applied in your browser. The password you choose is the weak point, so make it long and unique. Fair Go PDF never sees it and can't recover it: forget it and the file stays locked. The optional restrictions (no printing, no copying) rely on the viewing software honouring them, so it's the open password that actually locks the file.
