    How it works

    1. Add a PDF that has no tags yet. If it's a scan, run it through OCR PDF first.
    2. Check the headings, describe the images, and set the title and language.
    3. Click "Tag PDF" and download the tagged copy. Then run it through the Accessibility Checker.

Tags give a screen reader a structure to follow: headings, paragraphs, lists, images and links, in reading order. The pages look exactly the same. This works best on documents that are mostly text in one column, like letters, reports and minutes.

It's a starting point, not a full accessibility fix. Columns, tables and form fields aren't tagged properly yet, link text isn't nested inside its link, and the result isn't PDF/UA certified. Always check the result, ideally with a screen reader or the free PAC checker. Your PDF is read and rewritten in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
